Rich culture and magical landscapes: Athens, Nafplio, Mani & Zakynthos

Once you touch down in Athens, your driver will pick you up from the airport and take you to your accommodation for a quick rest. Freshen up and prepare for your first night in the capital city of Greece. Meet with your local, expert guide for a fascinating tour beginning at Syntagma Square through historic neighborhoods such as Plaka, Thissio and Psyrri. Listen to stories of the past while wandering through the city’s highlights. At the end of your walk, a mouth-watering typical Greek dinner will appropriately round up your tour. 

The next morning, get ready to admire the masterpieces of the Golden Age and the amazing Parthenon along with your licensed expert guide. Complete your tour at the impressive Acropolis Museum to discover unique exhibitions and original artifacts from the Acropolis that date back to more than 2.500 years ago. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city on your own. Just before sunset, go up Lycabettus hill, for a breathtaking view and lots of photos from the highest point of the city.

On day 3, enjoy a relaxing morning with your significant other. Go for a stroll around the city center and rediscover the historic neighborhoods of Athens, under the quiet light of the morning sun. In the early evening, it’s time for your half-day trip to Cape Sounio through the picturesque Athens Riviera. Feel the unique ambiance the Temple of Poseidon exudes while enjoying a magnificent multi-hued sunset and a panoramic view of the sea. To perfectly round up your trip, opt for a romantic dinner at one of the seaside restaurants.

Time to leave Athens and go travelling to the Peloponnese. Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Italianate town of Nafplio or else, the “Napoli of the East”. On your way there, take a brief stop at the isthmus of Corinth to see the Corinth Canal, an impressive feat of engineering that separates the Peloponnese from the mainland. Once you reach your accommodation in Nafplio, you can relax for the rest of the day.

On the fifth day, visit the ancient fortified citadel of Mycenae and take a tour around the extraordinary archaeological site that used to be the kingdom of the mythical Agamemnon. Accompanied by your deeply knowledgeable guide, explore the Royal Tombs and the Treasury of Atreus, admire the Cyclopean Walls and see for yourselves an exemplary site of monumental sculpture, the Lion’s Gate. In the afternoon, wander around the picturesque streets of the Old Town of Nafplio at your own pace and find out why it is considered to be one of the most romantic towns in Greece.

The following day, spend your free time sunbathing and swimming in sparkling blue-green waters at the popular beach of Tolo – the little seaside city right next to Nafplio, known for its long, sandy coast. Alternatively, you can treat yourselves to a semi-private sailing trip. Get the chance to visit secluded beaches, dive into crystal clear waters and taste delicious homemade Greek delicacies on-board. 

After having spent three days in the beautiful, first capital of modern Greece, it’s time to continue your journey. On your private vehicle, enjoy a ride through the exquisite scenery of the Peleponnese before reaching the next destination of your amazing trip, the Mani peninsula. Despite the inhospitable landscape of barren rocks and cliffs that dive into the deep sea, this region is one of the most authentic and traditional places in Greece. Upon your arrival at your accommodation, settle in and get a rest for the day.

For day 8, a sea kayaking adventure is due. Explore the beautiful coastline of Mani at a relaxed paddling pace, easy for everyone to follow. See different coves hiding special surprises, swim into the Blue Cave, a spectacular natural phenomenon, and observe the sea life through the crystal clear waters. Alternatively, and depending on the weather, you can choose to go on a hiking trip in Kardamyli. A trip that will bring you closer to nature and will give the opportunity to visit traditional villages, walk through olive trees, pines and cypress trees and discover how locals used to live.

The next day is free for you to spend it as you and your partner wish. The region of Mani has so many iconic places to offer: the small, traditional village of Vatheia, located on top of a hill with its astonishing architecture; the Caves of Diros, a unique spectacle of nature; Cape Tenaro, the southernmost point of Mani and that of mainland Europe as well; and the archaeological site of Mystras located in a magical area on the foothills of Taygetos mountain range.   

On day 10, pack your bags and let us drive you to the port of Kyllini for you to board the ferry to the last stop of your perfect honeymoon, the island of Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea. When you get there, you’ll be transferred to your hotel to take the day off.

On the eleventh day, enjoy an island tour off-the-beaten-path and unearth Zakynthos’ top sites and hidden treasures. Gain insight into the Greek way of life by visiting traditional villages, tasting local products, meeting a priest at a monastery and learning about olive oil production at an olive factory. This tour wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the platform above the Smugglers Bay where you’ll listen to the fascinating tale of the famous Zakynthos Shipwreck.

We have left the following day free for you to get familiar with the island on your own. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the island’s city, Zakynthos town, with its Venetian-style mansions and picturesque squares with remarkable historical buildings. If you feel up to some sea and sun, the island has many lovely beaches. Laganas beach is one of the most remarkable to visit because it has been designated an ecological park and is the breeding site of the well-known species of sea turtle Caretta-Caretta. 

On the penultimate day, continue the exploration of the island by yourselves or choose to join other travellers on a trip to the well known Shipwreck Bay and the Blue Caves. Enjoy some peaceful time on the Shipwreck beach, take a dip in the waters of the Blue Caves, where your body takes on the blue hues and indulge in a natural spa in the healthy waters at Xingia beach.

Having lived a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon, it’s time to depart from Zakynthos and our beloved country. Your personal driver will take you to the island’s airport so you can catch your flight back home. Leave relaxed and ready for the beginning of your new life as a married couple.
